If you want a pragmatic method
to safeguard critical infrastructures

A picture is worth a thousand words

Safeguard

from Old French: sauve + garde
  • prevent harm or damage with an appropriate measure
  • a measure taken to protect someone or something
     or
     to prevent something undesirable

Security
” is just a desire

from Latin: sine 'without' + cura 'care'

Security: it does not exist in nature.
So those who sell it, sell an illusion...
While using the (false) statement "No one can make IT 100% secure!"
as an excuse for their failure to deliver a solid safeguard structure.

A lot of money, time and effort is spend on trying to prevent unwanted access and data leakage.
Many of those who are involved in 'cyber-security'  have an uneasy feeling about it. They sense something is wrong with the popular methods and highly praised products, but can't pinpoint what it is..

The expression "Safeguard" points in the right direction. It came up while boiling down outcomes from a rather specific research project, many years ago.
Turns out, that there are several fundamental misconceptions taken for granted.
Once you understand those fallacies, it is a simple matter of applying logic to solve this puzzle.

"100% Secure" It is simple once you know how
